Parks and Recreation
The Longswamp Township Parks and Recreation Committee is dedicated to giving our residents and neighbors the best experience when spending time in our beautiful Township. Every year, we plan special events nearly monthly to garner activity, involvement and appreciation for Longswamp Township.
In Spring we host an Easter Egg Hunt, June we host Swampfest our largest event ever year which brings in hundreds of citizens, vendors, and visitors to play games, and eat food. October we host the Great Pumpkin Hunt, and in December is our Christmas celebration beginning with the tree lighting.
Swampfest which is being held June 8, 2024, will host a variety of activities this year including, a petting zoo, children's activities, Mush ball tournaments, crafters, live music, and great food. To be a vendor or crafter at this event you must fill out an application, pay the fee, and sign a hold harmless agreement. For our large vendors and musicians, you must fill out an AmTrust if you do not carry workers comp coverage, and a w-9, along with your application. With that being said, we are always looking for volunteers to help out the Parks and Rec Committee. We can always use help setting up and cleaning up events, directing traffic and parking, or just being a supporting member of our many community events. Please reach out to the Township if you are ever interested in volunteering to assist the Committee.
Longswamp Township is also home to 2 gorgeous parks, Longswamp Community Park and Hunsicker's Grove. Community Park is home to baseball fields, a basketball & tennis court, and a roller hockey rink. There are also 2 pavilions at this park which can be rented through the Township any time from May 1st through September 30th. At Hunsicker's Grove, there is a small lake with plenty of fish in it and a beautiful nature trail surrounding the entirety of the lake area of the park. There are also 2 pavilions at this park, and the large one even has a kitchen! To book either of these pavilions from May through September, please go to the Township Office to fill out the required documents.
IMPORTANT NOTE
If you are planning to have an event at either of these parks, please be aware that a special event permit must be submitted to the Township. Also, if you are planning to rent the entire park, not just a pavilion, you will also be required to fill out the special event permit.
